Historical Background
As the early 1920’s approached, the idea of an Anti-Semitism spread across the nation of Germany.
Being in the powerless and vulnerable state they were in (taking the blame for WWI), Germany were
willing to do anything they were instructed to; even if it went against all of their moral beliefs. In the
year of 1919 Adolf Hitler came into power, implanting Anti-Semitic ideas into the minds of the German
people. Hitler believed that Jewish people were to blame for Germany’s current situation. As the years
bored on, and Hitler’s power increased (becoming more loved by the Germans), Jews began to be punished
for their well-being. It started with small actions: segregating Jews from public schools, and public
neighborhoods, to not doing business with Jewish people. From here, things only got worse, and Hitler’s
tyranny started to take over. As the German army started taking over new land, under Hitler’s ruling,
Jews were killed or sent to concentration camps; thus beginning one of the most gruesome genocides
ever known to man: The Holocaust.
